Library and Archives Canada has established the heading Ontario, Lake (N.Y. and Ont.) in the Canadian Subject Heading thesaurus (CSH), in response to Canada’s southern neighbour unilaterally renaming its half of the lake to ‘America, Lake’. Libraries wishing to use the Canadian heading in catalogue records would code 650 second indicator 5.

Please join ORDAC for a three-part webinar series that uses an Original RDA MARC record as the foundation for developing an Official RDA Metadata Application Profile.
The three webinars will focus on examining how RDA elements map to MARC, what to consider when planning for Official RDA implementation, and what to include in an Official RDA Metadata Application Profile. This webinar series is aimed at cataloguers currently using Original RDA in MARC who are thinking about planning for Official RDA but are unsure where to begin.
The sessions will be presented by Bridget Jennings and should last around 30 minutes with time after for questions.

ALIA Rare Cataloguing
Have you ever wondered about controlled vocabularies for rare materials cataloguing? Join Nina Whittaker (they/them) for an overview of how to use the RBMS Controlled Vocabulary for Rare Materials Cataloguing. From subscription publications to authors’ autographs, come and explore this potpourri of useful terms.
Plus, we will be hearing from Giuliana Tarascio (she/her), Senior Metadata Officer at the University of Melbourne, about how the Rare Cataloguers’ Community have been working with Trove to advocate for and protect rare books metadata. She will also be introducing Trove’s Rare Book Cataloguing Template, which is now available for use.
There will be plenty of time at the end for sharing and discussion and, as always, any and all levels of experience are welcome.

LCSH
The PCC Comics and Fiction Funnel have compiled a report with a recommendation to change the existing Library of Congress subject heading for games to allow the use of “Games” as both a topical and form modifier for all subjects, to help patrons more easily locate both research about physical games and the games themselves.

BIBFRAME
The Library of Congress Network Development and Standards Office has released a BIBFRAME Primer:
The purpose of the Primer is to provide a solid starting point for implementing the BIBFRAME model and vocabulary, including real-life examples and implementation considerations. It is not comprehensive, but will be augmented, and otherwise modified, so that it will remain reasonably current and demonstrative. Given the flexibility of the BIBFRAME model and vocabulary it is impossible to capture every BIBFRAME permutation for every possible format and scenario. Therefore, it is anticipated that this Primer will be more a living document than a static one.
The document begins with a wide, broad discussion of the BIBFRAME Model in general and proceeds to narrower topics, such as a common BIBFRAME classes and properties, followed by more focused discussions about format specific classes and properties. The last section of the document covers particulars about RDF (datatypes, URIs, blank nodes) and other specifics. An appendix elaborates on the concept of the Hub.
