- Rare Books Cataloguing Collaboration and Trove Mapping Concerns
Representatives from the ALIA Rare Books and Special Collections Cataloguing Interest Group joined the meeting to discuss the groups’ purpose and collaboration with ACORD. Concerns were raised about Trove’s MARC to BIBFRAME mappings affecting rare materials, initially raised by University of Melbourne staff. ACORD agreed to support advocacy efforts and ongoing collaboration.
- New Volunteer News Assistant Appointed
Emma Coad has been selected as ACORD’s volunteer news assistant. A recent LIS graduate and librarian at Flinders University, Emma brings relevant experience and will help develop meeting snapshot updates and new items for the ACORD e-list.
- Schools Cataloguing Community of Practice Launch Confirmed
A Schools Cataloguing Community of Practice, supported by ACORD, is set to launch in August. Promotional work and platform setup are underway with ALIA.
- Trove and WorldCat Service Change
Concerns were raised about the discontinuation of OCLC’s shared service with Trove. It may impact access to cataloguing data and cooperative cataloguing workflows.
- MARC Language Code Change Discussion
Discussion around the proposed MARC Discussion Paper 2025-DP14 raised concerns about the treatment of First Nations materials and language codes. ACORD noted Australia’s distinct cataloguing practices and the need for further dialogue.
