The Cataloging Ethics Steering Committee (CESC), with members from the US, the UK, and Canada, have been tasked with compiling a Code of Ethics for Cataloguers, for the benefit of all staff creating, sharing, enriching, and maintaining metadata.

The final version of the Cataloguing Code of Ethics was published in January 2021. It has since been endorsed by ALA and CILIP.

While consultation is still ongoing, the CESC is looking for case studies to illustrate the practical application of the statements of the ethical principles in the Cataloguing Code of Ethics.
